How to relate Orwell's life to Animal Farm?
Orwell attended the elitist private school of Eton in England where he dealt with snobbishness and social elitism regularly. This, and being from a low income family, made him deeply suspicious of the class system in English Society. As a result, he developed strong political views where he recognized and despised socities in which the strong belittled the weak- he became a socialist, speaking against governments and even fighting for the cause during the Spanish Civil War. (George Orwell Biography, 2003)
At this time, the Communist party was ruling the Soviet Union. Though Orwell was also a socialist, he was not enamored by the party’s policies and saw through the cruelties and hypocrisies of the Communist Party. He became a sharp critic of capitalism and communism, being remembered chiefly as an advocate of freedom and a committed opponent of communist oppression.(Orwell's life, 1996) Orwell then put his political viewpoints into words and used Animal Farm to demonstrate the shortcomings of the Soviet Union.
